General: Safe to drive... or not? VIDA codes help please!

Hi

I have recently done a bit of clearing up on my V70 D5 and have some remaining codes showing up - please see attached screenshot...

The CCM-0040, UEM-0004 and ECM-9300/930A codes I understand - The AQM sensor needs replacing (where can I get a cheap one?), the battery in the alarm is totally dead (pain to replace) and the clutch position sensor needs replacing (AGAIN!).

CCM-0090 & PSM-002B I don't understand. Help please!

CEM-1A59 is due to the AUM having no power - the fuses seem all to be fine, however I've seen notes that suggest the CEM has relays soldered onto it that can fail and that this might explain why the HU-850 and both front and back seat 12V outlets have no power. Thoughts?

Mainly, I'm concerned about the BCM-0100 & BCM-0115 codes - is the car safe to drive? - it seems to be fine, but any warning around the braking system concerns me.
I don't quite "get" these messages as obviously VIDA is communicating fine with the BCM.

I'd say it would be fine - if the brakes are operating normally and it would pass an MOT.

The PSM is the power seat module I think.

Comms failure between modules is a very generic message - have you tried drilling into the detail on it?

When I see those I usually diagnose and clear all other faults first, then clear and rescan. At least 50% of the time I find they go away if you deal with other faults that impact more than one system - for example the clutch position sensor is monitored by the ECM but also used by the CEM and BCM which will try to read the value over Canbus. So there is a chance if you sort that, it may clear other errors.

dont read off the initial state tab clear all codes run the car rescan and read off the delivery tab as these are your current codes use the vehicle communications tab and use the advanced tab to find out what your codes mean in each individual module. vida is a full diagnostic tool not just a code reader it takes time to learn all its functions parts list/workshop manual ect. ps make sure your battery is fully charged as low voltages will throw up lots of codes it is recommended when using vida to have an external power supply battery charger or other if this is not available scan with the car running to avoid any mis scanning due to falling voltage.

I thought initial codes were the last full read from the car after a reset and the whole "IGN on, run at over 1500 RPM, IGN off, IGN on, IDLE for 20 secs, IGN off" sequence...

...and "Delivery" is what is left after you've done some fixes.

hi nick watch some guides on how to use vida these show the basics on vida use. there are some good ones on you tube . a guide to vida by Matthew leavesley and another good one is by farpoint farms an ex volvo tech or join the vida users face book group i would say most of your codes may be related to a low voltage situations vida is a great tool but it can take some time to understand all its features as its not totally intuitive and there are no written instructions repost with your findings

"Initial state" is a list of codes from the modules and they are stored in VIDA. If VIDA is not used correctly, "initial state" can be totally misleading. It can store old codes that mean nothing. "Delivery" is more reliable... you may notice that some codes might not even be on the delivery tab (that's because they don't really mean anything) or can't actually throw an engine management light.

When you connect a car to VIDA and read the vehicle, it reads all the codes in all the modules and stores them... this is "initial state". You can end up with lots of codes, but they might not actually mean anything. If you wish, you can clear the codes on the "delivery" tab, but that doesn't always update what's on the initial tab.

What you're best off doing is clear the codes, run the car for a little while and then do a rescan. If you've scanned the car with VIDA before and you connect it again, you'll see a message that pops up asking you if you want to update. Updating will wipe the old codes and basically do a scan of the present day as you're sat there scanning it. Live codes and delivery tab are what you want to be looking at.

If you don't update, you'll just be looking at the same codes that you were looking at previously the last time you scanned the car, which might be of no use to you as it could have been from a week ago, a month ago or even a year ago!

It does take a while getting used to VIDA. Its not the easiest software to use and it can be a bit baffling at times. Simmy is right... watch some YouTube tutorials or post any problems you have here and someone may be able to help who might know more about VIDA.

As for the codes you're experiencing currently, go to delivery after you've done an updated scan, then go to "vehicle communications" and then "advanced". It should tell you what these codes actually mean.
