Default Amazon wanted

Having had quite a few classics, I have been looking for an Amazon for a while so hope this may get a result :-)
Ebay throws up some apparently good cars now and again, but buying without looking or maybe looking and not then getting is bonkers to me.
I am looking for a solid usable car, not a show car ( not my price range! ) nor a dog, don't mind a little bit of work or finishing but it must be presentable.
Price ? Top price I can go to is about 2k but will consider on merit, 1.5k is better for me 2.5k is maybe possible but would have to tick all the boxes.
4 doors is slightly favoured, overdrive is nice but solid is best !
Anyone hiding this car somewhere? good home waiting!

Default volvo amazon

Hi. I have a 1964 amazon saloon. 4 door with factory overdrive and rear seatbelts that i may sell. I use it as my winter car and have done for a few years now. I restored it in such a way that it has a very solid body that has been waxoiled inside sills, doors and the like. It is in the garage all summer and outside all winter. The wrong way round i know, but the car has lasted very well. The car is black with a white roof. It suites the car well.

I have seen some real animals out there that in my opinion are only fit for scrap being sold and although ththis car is deffinately not a show car is good in all the right places.

The engine and overdrive box were restored some years ago by amazon cars at great expense and neither leak any oil. It starts and stops exactly as it should. Compression last time i checked was around 160 psi. The paintwork is not brilliant but it is hiding nothing. There is a dint to the rear offside door and wheel arch that could be repaired with filler as there is no rot. The door shuts fine. I scraped a post a couple of years ago.

The sills are totaly original and in perfect condition. The bottom of the doors from underneath are also very good. Rear wheel arches are steel and not filler. This car would make a very good every day car as it has been used all winter for at least the last three to four years. I would sell for £1500, but i would take the number off as it is worth something to me, so it would be sold with an age related number.

I will try to get some photos shortly. I am an amazon enthusiast so i know these cars well and would not misslead anyone on condition. There are alot of cars that look prettier than mine but there are few as good as this in reality. I know exactly where to take pictures to show how solid the car is but as i said the paint work lets it down slightly and because of this, close up pictures will show the car up badley, but it is far better than it looks. Engine bay is very grubby and oily but no rot. It will be a good number of years before it fails an mot on welding. I inspect the underside of my cars anualy for corrosion

Default Hi Alan122s

Alan, I can't PM back to you for some reason about 30 posts (?) I am new to this !
We may have spoken before, Is this the ex-Cyprus car with alloys? I have pics and may soon be in touch. If not, yes please to the pics. Its a bit up there in my budget but I will definitely consider.
Many thanks

I have not long MOTed the car. About three weeks ago. The interior has got front seats out of a late amazon as they have headrests fitted The fronts are blue but the rest of the trim is blood red. The front seats are very supportive and sit nice and high. Most amazon seats tend to sag and you end up stretching your neck to look over the bonnet. The leatherette has some minor splits but as i said, this car is rigged up to be a safe everyday cruiser. The carpet is basicaly thrown in but it gives me good access to keep my eye on the floor pans in case of rust issues. The interior could be tidied up somewhat. There is no front bumper but this does not effect the MOT. At the moment my description is not sounding too clever is it but i will try to get you some decent photos and close up shots. Not like the usual long range that shows nothing.

Mechanicaly and bodily i would say is actualy better than average. It has not been mest about with. When i restored it the whole car was stripped including stripping all the door furnature. I painted it myself and it came out very egg shelly so i rubbed it right back but in some places it went through to the undercoat so these areas were touched up and can be seen if you look closer. The photos below show the car as it was being stripped and primed. I will try to get some recent photos of the cars condition but it was no rot box when i started. I have way to much experience to buy a pile of scrap.

Below are pictures taken today. I just drove it out and took some photos. I will try to take more soon. The paint is not as bad as i thought as i did give the paint a quick polish.
The underside is in remarkable and mostly original condition. I did replace one outrigger when it was restored but the sills are all original. There is no worries about the underneath.
As can be seen the car is very sound considering it has seen several winters continuous.
£1500 if anyone is interested.
