Rubbish radio signal
I have a MY '08 Exec with Dynaudio.
I've noticed recently that the radio (FM) reception is pretty rubbish, struggling to hold signal of even local radio stations when driving around. It also refuses to keep with the national radio stations while driving across the country, but will find them again if I search manually to adjust the frequency. I've only had the car around 10 months and don't think it's ever been right to be honest. Anyone had similar and/or know of any cure, as it's driving me mad?! Cheers, Steve

You can monitor the signal strength of Antenna 1 and Antenna 2 Maybe one of the antennas is perfoming poorly? Also, note that one antenna loops through the navigation system, so check if the nav is also receiving TMC stations. The auto-frequency change is the RDS AF function, check it is turned on in the radio. I know that FM reception in my MY2009 XC90 is not as good as my previous car

Do you have anything plugged into any of the 12v sockets?
I've found that many USB power adaptors (e.g. used to charge phones) create electrical noise and kill the radio reception. I've seen people report the same for wired-in accessories like dash-cams can cause this also. |
