Default shes getting laid up again

My purple monster (hehe) is getting put up on the drive for a little while. She needs a bit of bodywork...light surface rust and a bit of paint correction for 6 months while my company force me to drive a 14 plate fomoco C-max around the length and bredth of the country (a customer complained that my personal car was poluting the world and was too old fashioned)

I cannot put her back in the heated garage, can anyone ofbyou helpful folk suggest a half decent storage solution...I was thinking a waterproof car cover, only to remove it at weekends (mite try and use the old girl as a.weekend warrior)

Iv inherited a red J reg 440 turbo with only 150 miles on the clock!!! Hehe same applies to this car

Yup, it sucks. Atleast my motor that im trying to keep nice for years to come wont suffer idiots on the roads now. The back bumper has written off 3 cars on the M25 lol a lorry cracked it hehe.

Iclv driven from my place to bristol and the fomoco has given me backache. Not as comfy as the 460 and I keep loosing it in car parks trying to look out for the volvo (normally the only one.in.the carpark...missing the.good.times already hehe)

That's a shame Andrew.

What's it got to do with them what you drive?

Perhaps you could explain to them about real world pollution I'm terms of how much is created in car manufacture. I.e, instead of buying a new car every 2-3 years, it's probably much better for the planet to keep a 15 year old one going!!

Really p1sses me off stuff like that. P1ss off and mind your own business, you interfering busybody. Get back to curtain twitching!!

In my experience, covers are a bit of a waste of time. Unless it physically leaks I'd leave it open, otherwise any moisture trapped by the cover can't get out.

But most importantly, don't leave it on grass. You'd be amazed how quickly a car will dissolve of you do!

Steve

Nah the 440 is a neighbours one. I asked him if he would part with it he said he was too old to keep it

Gonna get the same treatment my granfathers 460 did, new gaskets (carbon fibre) core plugs etc

Ignore people like that customer! I used to get comments over using my 480, although usually there were more favourable along the "don't see many of those now..." type.

Still feel bad about parting with that car!

Anyway, good to hear you are gradually saving the 400 world, car by car!!

The good thing about it being off the road for a few months is I can get jobs done without worrying about getting it done for the weekday, so a blessing I guess...also I dont have to pay for petrol then claim it back and commuting to the office is paid for too a saving of over 500/month

This week shes had a brand new back bumper changed to her colour and fitted yay . Bad thing is the engine block has started to rust from tue lack of use. She only comes out on weekends now.

Next on my list is to sort out the leaky radiator, hitting bunny rabbits at 100mph does make a mess (anyone for mince rabbit?) and theres a metal cooling pipe that comes from the block and then connects to a rubber hose into the cabin area...anyone know what im on about and if I can.get a replacement?

Just because it's off the road don't think you can go pinching petrol from the other side of the country and using "it wasn't me, my cars laid up" as an alibi

No idea on the pipe, but I'm breaking my Celebration soon, if the pipe is the same, you're welcome to it.
