Default Loud crack

Evening all
During the cold weather last week, I reversed off my drive and I heard a very loud crack. Now when I got over any bumps or speed bumps I can hear a knocking sound. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the front right of the car

I've had a look, tried rocking the car but everything seems fine.

Ideas??

My thought too. It looks fine. I can't see around the back though.

It's a cheap fix though right?? (Not at volvo dealer)

Even though my southern Volvo dealer charges £144/h (including Vodka and Tonic) it was cheaper for the dealer to do the work than an indy, if I wanted OEM part, which I did.

That was because with the correct pukka power compressing tool it took Volvo dealer a book time of 24 mins. Indy’s wanted 1.5 hours labour because I presume they where using more basic hand compressing tool.

I was surprised.

Edit - Volvo stealer labour was £58 and I think OEM coil spring was around £85, so around £145 total. Indy was around £70 labour and £60 non-OEM coil spring.

You supposed to do do a pair of coil springs and that gets expensive, but I didn’t and older spring has still held up with newer one. Car is 58 plate V70 D5 Rdesign

Yep, I found exactly the same when I obtained a quote to replace the coil springs on the back of my C70, the local dealer was cheaper than an indy

It's the Season for snapped coil springs! our Citroen has just snapped a spring and destroyed the tyre last week.

Garage had 3 cars in last week with snapped springs during the cold weather. The steel is more prone to fracture in cold temps.

You usually find the black powder coating has come off and left the steel to corrode - this is where it'll fracture. The Citroen had an extra plastic 'sleeve' around the first couple of pig-tails which would hold water against the spring - this went in the bin, think it's there to stop the first couple of springs clanging together but the mechanic always discards them and never had any complaints.
