Default Not enough chrome!

I love a bit of chrome! Unfortunately, the rear end of my 144 seems to be lacking in that department. The rear number-plate light cover and the bit around the rear lights looks like it used to be nice and shiny, but now its a bit dull and yellowy. Did Volvo always use plastic for these bits, or can you find chrome ones? Or has anyone tried restoring them to their former glory - I suppose I could paint them with some silver paint... any advice?

Whilst i'm on the subject of increasing the chrome - I notice that some 144s have chrome surrounds on the wheel arches - I want some!

Thanks for any help / advice,

Miles

Hi,

Apparently the numberplate lamp can be restored. This link from the Swedish 140 club gives step-by-step instructions in English, with photos.

http://web.140-klubben.org/renovering/index_e.html

As for wheelarches, 164s came with chrome trim so that could be a source. However, the front wheelarch might not be exactly the same shape as a 144, but worth a try.

Regards

John
