Ordered new xc90 momentum in osmium grey with blond leather, winter pack, illumination, xenium tow hitch etc on 4th November. Dealer rang on 5th, problem with BLIS due to supplier issue. Been advised today that delivery is 31st March 2017. Too close to the April deadline and tax changes .Dealer hopes for an improvement as Volvo "on the case". Here's hoping

I have a 2017 D5 power pulse and average around 34mpg solo and 22 - 24mpg towing a Bailey unicorn valencia, I do the school run so there are regular short trips. On longer journeys I can get about 42mpg solo. Short around town trips about 26 -28mpg, I only have 2,800 miles on the clock so it may improve but it never did on my last 3 MK 1 XC90's.

My MPG so far is pretty similar. When you take into account the size of the car, it is ok but not blown away. My previous Mercedes was 4 cylinder and same size engine and economy was at least 20% better and this was with a car 4 years older, so older tech.

Engine and MPG is definitely one area where volvo is behind. my brother in law as an E350 and gets higher MPG than any of the figures ive seen for the XC90 and has the extra poke to boot.

I don't think that you can compare the mpg figures of the E350 and XC90, one is a saloon (or estate) with pretty reasonable aerodynamics and less weight the other is a large, much heavier 7 seat SUV with the aerodynamics more akin to a brick!

The E350 should be compared to the S90 & V90, even though engine size is different.

Fair point. I had a CLS250CDI which was 20% at least better and at least 5 years older in tech, I was hoping the gap was not going to be quite that wide. Does the Q7 6 cylinder match or better the XC90 D5 for economy.

When you take all things into account, I am ok with the economy but was hoping for better. I think the Germans seem to have this area covered on the bigger dieseled cars.

I wish there was some regulations implemented that real world mpg had to be quoted by car manufacturers. The hybrid figures in particular are just a nonsense.

Valid, but he still gets better mpg than my xc60 too.

This is a pure guess but is there any way that you can pay before you receive the car so that it would be invoiced in March?
