Default Engine management light. V70tdi

Hi guys,
Engine management light on and car drives normally until I go up a hill and no power. If I pull off the electric cable whilst idling there is no change in Engine revs or noise.
Any ideas please 🙏

The dynamic timing has gone out of range. Anything over 2° will affect the performance, economy and trigger the EML. Time for a new fuel pump belt and its tensioners.

Also, Willi, before you replace the pump belt, check the rubber hose going from the MAP sensor (OS strut tower) to the nipple on the end of the inlet manifold isn't perished or cracked. Any vacuum leak here can cause boost issues. And make sure the nipple is clear of carbon/crud using a small drill bit.

There are 3 codes.
1, coolant temperature sensor
2, fuel pump relay
3, rear oxygen sensor.

Looked everywhere for the fuel pump relay. Under bonnet, under driver side and passenger side dashboard and nothing. I thought only petrol had fuel pump relays not diesel.

Check to see if any fuses are blown, Willi, both the large and small type, in the engine bay fusebox as they could be related to the above items. If memory serves me correctly there is a large 80amp also with two screws. If possible test them all for continuity with a multimeter.

And which electrical cable did you remove initially?

Any joy with the fuses, Willi? I'm guessing a loss of power to your MAF sensor is triggering those DTC's.

See attached pics of my '99 2.5D fuse box, your '98 TDI fuse locations might differ slightly.

There are a row of five fuses, the middle one is a 15amp which has blown. Replaced it and light still on.
