Default Swirl Flap Position Range

Hi all,

I'm trying to sus out a problem on a D5244T4. It's complaining about the MAP sensor and the ECU atmos pressure sensor not matching up. I've don't some checks and on paper at least, it all seems to be where you'd expect it to be. Even replaced the MAP sensor

However...

One of the things that is not in the list are any fault codes regarding the swirl flap motor. When the vehicle does mess around into limp mode, I have noticed that the reported position is somewhere between 652-655%

Before I go running to ebay and buy a replacement (as they're a little more than the £30 for the sensor!!), I'd just like some feedback from you people on the operational position of your flap motors.

Codes:
ECM-P006900
ECM-P222700

One other thing - I don't usually beg for input on these things and am content to wait; in this case though I'm sort of, on the clock.

I'm lucky enough to have a wife who is very understanding, she even has a liberal attitude to car parts being cleaned in the bath. In this instance though I've been met with a sharp "it was fine until you messed with it" response!!!

ANY thoughts and input greatly appreciated. Those codes btw are the only ones that have been logged. Swirl flaps have been replaced and link arm is secure.

Smile Mystery Solved

After a long and arduous investigation, it turns out that the swirl flap position was a red herring.

It was indeed the MAP sensor as others on this forum have previously indicated with those codes.
I was just unfortunate in that the replacement Bosch MAP sensor, as was the subsequent Volvo replacement, were both faulty. Third time was a charm though and the vehicle feels a lot better now than it has done in a LONG time.

Never knew MAP can mess with readings for flaps.

Good to know thanks for feedback

It doesn't. Sorry, I might have caused some confusion.

The initial issue I was chasing down was to do with an erroneous value of 655% when the swirl flaps were wide open when they should be effectively 0%.
The codes were indicating a problem with the MAP sensor, but this was changed. As it turns out, the replacement 2 MAP sensors I bought were both faulty.

In conclusion, the swirl flap position still reports 655% when fully open, but this is not affecting the performance of the vehicle. I suspect that the ECU is aware that 0% can roll "back" to 655-650%

What I wouldn't give for a good look at the source code for that computer!
