Lambda sensor problem
My Volvo 2.4 170BHP auto has developed a nasty little habit of stalling and poor warm starting. The symptom best shows its self after coming off the motorway and stopping at the off ramp junction , the revs drop to 850 or so . I put my foot down to go and it stalls. I had the car looked at using a code reader etc and the only error it showed was that the O2 sensor (Lambda) Voltage out put was not varying between the correct ranges and appeared intermittently or to stick on the rich setting.
So what I need to know is 1. Would this cause this sort of fault or am I look in the wrong place 2. Where can I get a sensor for a 2.4 none turbo 1999 B5244S as none of the after market Lambda suppliers I have found do one for this engine. Any help or comments (useful) will be much appreciated. |

same problem fixed free
I had same problem on my s80 1999 2.4 3 month ago
Volvo dealer in Croydon(London) fixed it by "cleaning the throttle module" and "upgrading the software". Initially they said it would be 89GBP but after finishing they told me "Volvo pays for it" Since then warm start and idle run are fine. Though maybe because of upgrading the software "lambda" light appears about 1 month later and another volvo dealer insisit on replasing front lambda sensor (it maybe true - my car is more than 160kmiles). Hope it would help |
