Default volvo xc 90 d5 radiator fan not working

Hi I have a march 2006 xc90 d5 miles 184000 miles.I have had car for 16 months and have done 14000 miles since I have owned this car.
My problem is my rad fan not working.
I have tried 3 rad fans the one on now was tested and worked fine on a frainds xc90.
When I put my diagnostic in .icarsoft it reports control mod not working.
Now I now it works as tested on a different car,I have tested voltage and getting 12 volt plus earth fine.Pink wire is 7.2 volt but does not change.
temp gauge working fine.
Fan not coming on with ac either..
Thinking back I have never heard my fan kick in and on the odd occasion IE when I climb long steep hill engine service light comes on orange and goes out once I get on flat.
Temp gauge once warmed up sits just past middle never gone higher.
Anybody can help before I put a universal fan on and never have ac working. Many Thanks..

Check if that pink (violet) wire is not broken/damaged/shorted. It is fan activation wire which goes to engine control module A socket pin number 8 (A8) or alternatively B-58

Thanks I have checked pink wire and all seems fine although 7.2 volt never drops lower.I was under the impression that the voltage drops below 6volt to set fan off..

fan control is pretty much simple in xc90. if it works fine in other car that means you have wiring or ecu issue.
