Default V40 52 Plate SRS light after changing seats.

Hello

I took a trip to my local scrap yard at the weekend. They had a volvo V40 in with leather seats so i bought the seats off them. I have taken my seats out and installed the new seats. both front seats only have a wire going to the seatbelt socket. My old seats had another wire going up to the back of the seats. (think it may be airbag in the back of the seats). Now i have my SRS light. Any way i can turn the light off without removing the seats or taking the bulb out?

Any suggestions would really help me out

Thanks

It has to be reset using Vida and dice. search for someone who has one near you they will most likely do it for a beer or two. Otherwise dealer can switch it off. It automatically comes on when you disconnect the wires under the seats.

Actually on re reading you may have got seats with no srs airbags which might be more of a problem.

Someone told me that i can put a 2.2OHM resistor in to that airbag socket and have the light reset.

The resistor idea might work . I'm pretty sure it needs something to make it think there is a functioning airbag present.
There is a map of vida owners somewhere on here. Or just post a shout out to owners in your Area.

Cool

If you have removed front seats that had SIPS air bags fitted and replaced them with seats that do not have air bags fitted, then in insurance terms you might well be guilty of an act of gross negligence for disabling a safety system. So if that is the case you should contact your insurance company and ask them for a covering letter for the modification of the front seats.
In the event of a side impact involving a significant insurance claim, any investigator is bound to notice the SIPS air bag did not deploy.

I have a very funny feeling that the seats you bought, were from a Phase 1 (1996-1999) car, where the SIPS are triggered by an impact sensor on the side of the seat. Later Phase 2 cars have the SIPS connected to the SRS control module and are triggered by that. So in your case, assuming that I am right with my guess, you will still have functional SIPS, but you will need to sort out the extra connector. You will have to get two 2.2Ohm resistors and apply them to the connector under the seat, to fool the SRS system that you have active SIPS. Then you will have to get your SRS code reset and you should be good to go

All X40s from both phases had SIPS. Phase 1 models had the impact sensor at the side of the seat. Phase 2 models SIPS are controlled by the SRS control module. SO he will be fine with the SIPS adn no issues with insurance

I recently changed my seats out in a 2001 car with seats from a 2002 car, so didn't have the problem of the SIPS being fired from anywhere different than the SRS module, but I disconnected the battery whilst doing this to ensure the SRS light didn't illuminate. Had that problem before
