XC90 Executive Seating
Hi All,
Took the plunge, bought a 2 yr old XC90 via Select at Autoworld. Couldnt test drive, as I am in Scotland, but when it arrived, the seats seem a bit uncomfortable. Had volvo's in the past, and most comfy seats previously. Any thoughts? Also the 2 features, especially the cooling function on the seats, don't seem great. Pain in the upper back seems to be here now, and not too impressed. Any other users shed any light? Andrew |

I bought a 2 year old Exec in feb this year, I initially had problems with the cooling and massage functions but this was traced to a loose connection.
The seats are a lot firmer than I have been used to in the past, they are not as comfortable as in our old ph I V70, which I believe was one of the most comfortable cars Volvo have ever made, but they are not bad and certainly much better than most modern cars. I have suffered from intermittant back problems for years and find many cars uncomfortable, but have not experienced any problems with our car, even after 4 hour unbroken journeys. The ventilation function is not as effective as I would have expected, but it does work; in the past I have often got out of the car after a long trip and had a sweaty back, but this has not happened with the Exec.

This put me off buying an exec when I bought mine, it's a shame because the rest of the spec is great, when I sat in the exec it was though I was sitting on the top of the seat with no lateral support, firm too.

I think car seat comfort is very much a personal thing, however, I quite often make 200 miles + journeys in my Exec and with the ventilation + massage I have never arrived sore, hot or tired. So even whilst agreeing that they do appear to be b - m perches in reality they are very good! In addition if the ventilation does not make the seat cool on high I would suggest that it requires checking out.
