Default V90 Flame Trap

Anybody ever done one of these?

Did it on my old 740 no problem. Want to do it on this car but can't find it. I have been told over the phone by a local Volvo specialists that all of the inlet side needs removing to access it. There is somebody selling them on ebay and before buying I asked him if he had any advice on ease of fitting. He has told me that it is such a simple job that 'the missus could do it'!

Afraid inlet manifold must be removed as flametrap tucked right under at front not a nice job make sure seal into engine block is replaced or it will leak oil big time

I agree! Thanks for the diagram, big help (I'll have to find those Vadis discs!)

From the diagram it looks as if it would be sensible to clean right through this lot, including the oil trap!

Paris, which seal do you mean into the engine block? Do you mean part number 2 on the diagram?

Thanks to both of you for the advice

Hi,

If all that lot is under the manifild, it will make life more difficult.
However, if you are able to remove the bulk of this by feel, then clean up and fit a new trap, it can then be re-fitted. Just a matter of dexterity and time.
And yes, I believe the seal to the engine (2) is what is being refered to.

I would have a look and feel to see whether it could be done with the inlet in place before deciding to remove it.

I agree with all your comments. I have previously had a careful feel under there to no avail. With your diagram I now have a better idea what I am 'feeling for'!

correct item two is seal ,you will find only way is to remove inlet manifold 3 bolts very difficult to reach replace all the hoses to flametrap (you will find them rock hard and brittle)

Thanks for the links. I really wish it was that easy!

I think this must be the one that 'my missus' is supposed to be able to do. I assume these are from a 960 as the V90 is definately not as easy as that.

I acknowledge what you say Paris. I will put my hands under there, but am not holding my breath on succeeding!
