Default Rear Wiper has a life of its own

I have a MY20 XC90 and over recent months have noticed that the rear wiper intermittently operates of its own accord.

Today, driving along, flicked the front wipers to clear a few drops of rain and the rear wiper also makes a sweep.

Earlier in the day, driving along and the rear wiper sweeps 3 times, stalk switch in the centre off position.

During today’s events I refrained from doing anything, on previous occasions I have checked the switch position which is off, then either switched it to intermittent, or continuous positions, then to off to stop the wiper sweeping.

It occurs sporadically, on some journeys not at all and on others once or twice, sometimes it is limited sweeps as today and others I cancel it.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Not experienced anything similar, but there are long standing issues with stalk switches on SPA cars and several owners have had to have the module replaced. Could be a symptom of similar switch issues. Suggest have a search on here

Good luck

We had a similar problem but with the front wipers, they'd have a full speed thrash every now and then for no reason. New wiper motor seems to have cured it.
