  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way
  • AOL Customers: Make sure you check the 'Remember me' check box otherwise the AOL system may log you out during the session. This is a known issue with AOL.

Default Is this something I should be overly concerned with? (pic)

Noticed this whilst securing the heat shield under my car:



There seems to be a fairly solid layer under the corroded one.

Does this need immediate attention/should I be concerned? Many thanks for any input!

No, it just means that your exhaust is slowly aging. A new one will be due soon... It is currently only the outer skin which is rusty... The inner one will be done soon...

Cheers for the reply. Glad you don't think I need to replace it now! I take it it's probably not worth clearing off the rust and painting with some high temp paint?

Could get a metal plate welded on possibly? May last a bit longer!

Same here, mine was a lot worse about a year ago. Volvo dealer just cut off the excess corrosion flakes and said that eventually it would need replacing.

mine is identical and have left it nearly 2 years now there solid will get a new one eventually . btw im mr rich lol 1st time ive seen someone else with the same name

I am waiting until it starts to blow before I think about changing it.
Took a pic of the only bit of the outer skin that is left on mine!

yer that's fine just like mine there pretty solid exhausts should still last years like that . mine has been like it nearly 2 years now
