Default 03 V40 interior lighting issue

Wondering if anyone can help me with this small but annoying issue. The lights in the boot and the floor well of my V40 have never worked since I bought the car. I have checked the bulbs and they all look ok and I can't see a fuse specific to the 2 bulbs in the boot and 1 under the dashboard. The lights in the roof all work fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks

The roof light works so not an earth - i would check anyway as the dimmer may mean it totally different, fuse, i dont know but assumed it would be the same as the rooflight. i would work on the earth's!

There are two different issues here.

The light in the footwell works when the doors are opened so, if the rest of the lights come on it must be something specific to the footwell light, either a bad connection, blown bulb or breaking the wiring.

The boot lights work when the tailgate is opened. When I press the tailgate button but do not lift the tailgate the lights do not come on but when the tailgate is lifted a fraction - just sufficient for the lock to break contact with the keep - the lights come on. They also go off as soon as the tailgate lock makes contact with the keep, this would suggest the lights operate by the lock either making or breaking an earth connection through the lock keep. This is the same way that 'er indoors Fiesta boot light works, it is either earthed or not depending on whether the tailgate is open or closed.

Opening the tailgate only operates the two lights eitherside of the boot just below the roller cover, not the rest of the interior lights.

This doesn't solve the issue for you but, it might help point you in the right direction.

Thanks for this, I managed to solve the problem.

The footwell lamp works through the drivers door and isn't connected to the roof lights. I swapped bulbs around and it appears the footwell bulb was broken. The 2 bulbs in the boot were working fine but for some reason the previous owner had disconnected them from the wiring loom. I pulled back some trim and managed to find them and tested them both with the 1 remaining working bulb and they work fine.

Thanks guys :-)
