Default Heater matrix hoses

What is the difference between left hand and right hand drive heater matrix hoses? Split one and I want to replace it with silicone ones as they are pretty much the same price as rubber hoses. If they are different then can I modify the LHD ones to fit?

Assuming you mean the ones under the bonnet, I think you’ll find the RHD part numbers are:

1336133 - upper
3507447 - lower, incorporating the heater valve

and the LHD equivalents

3507412 - upper
3507413 - lower

Maybe Google pictures of them and see what you think.

It looks to me as thought you might persuade the LHD lower hose to fit if your car has aircon and you therefore need to cut it to accommodate the heater valve. You could change the orientation of the ends.

The upper hoses look different and quite complicated so I expect you’d end up restricting the flow by having to bend it.

If you cannot find the right ones pre-made in silicone maybe you could buy straight hose and bend it yourself. Either get super-flex hose, or the stuff with an integral spring wire to stop it kinking. For a more professional job get oridinary 5/8” silicone heater hose and a bending spring and form it yourself into the shape you need. I think you get it to assume its shape permanently by heating it and letting it cool. Never tried it myself though.

Good luck.
