Firstly I know one or two club members will say I'm like the weather man, (keep changing my mind) However after owning my lovely 940 for over six years, I've finally decided to sell, and I have just treated myself to a very nice MERCEDES !

The car is a 2.3ti Automatic Saloon with a certified LPG system installed, it is now registered as duel fuel, it has a full two tone leather interior, it has only done a genuine 49045 miles which will increase slightly has its still in use.

My 940 was first registered 11/12/1996 and sold by Lex Volvo to a Mr Chinosky his sales card is still in the original Volvo service book, in his ownership it had the following services by Lex Volvo.

Delivery service 11/12/1996

803 miles 24/2/1997

6269 miles 19/1/98

11263 miles 30/11/1998

He then had it serviced on a regular basis with P,S AUTOS of Edgware

18059 miles, 17/11/99 oil & filters

23569 miles 13/11/2000 oil & filters, plugs &wiper blades

27900 miles 19/1/2001 oi &filters

32337 miles 11/11/2002, no invoice for what was done, asumme as above.

36312 miles 24/11/2003, as above

37229 miles 8/11/2004 winter check and MOT

38801 miles 2/11/2006 no invoice for what was done

40571 miles 13/10/2008 as above

41321 miles 24/8/2010 oil & filters, air filter, plugs

44030 miles 18/9/2014 oil & filters

The car was then purchased by myself on 28/10/2015 the mileage 45916.

Nov 2015 replaced all the wrinkled door cards for good used ones.
purchased new front and rear floor mats.
purchased a set of volvo floor trays.
At 46099 miles had a complete new exhaust inc cat fitted at Halfords for £236.
replaced front r/h sidelight bulb.

Dec 2015 46150 miles, had new drop link and anti roll bar bushes fitted at Duke St garage in Shaw a Volvo specialist,
46150 miles a New set of GOODYEAR EFFICIENT GRIP TYRES fitted at Halfords and a free car safety check.

Jan 2016, replaced a faulty central locking relay.

Feb 2016, fitted a leather steering wheel cover.

Mar 2016, at 46000 miles had the following done by a private mechanic.
New Gates timing belt,
New SKF belt tensioner.
New First line water pump (still have the original Volvo one)
New genuine Volvo thermostat,
Antifreeze replaced with with Extreem G48.
Oil & filter Volvo items and Castrol semi synthetic.
New Fram air filter.
Alternator and fan belts replaced with Gates and Continental belts.
New Bosch spark plugs.
New camshaft cover gasket.

carried out by myself, New plug leads & spacers, new wiper blades, new seal to oil filler cap, new three way valve to screen washer pipes.

April 2016, fitted New Bosch distributer cap and rotor arm,
Apr 2016 at 46700 miles replaced completely all parts to the PCV system, all parts fro Rybrook Volvo £120.
Was having problems with the alarm, relay replaced then all was ok.

May 2016 fitted four new mudflaps.
May 2016 fitted new number plates with Volvo labelled surrounds.
May 2016 purchased from Volvo a New remote fob.
May 2016 fitted reflective tape to bumpers and side trims.

Jun 2016 power washed all suspension parts and painted in black hamerite.
Jun 2016, replaced the diff oil with Millers 80/w/90 gear oil.

Jun 2016, car went in to Duke st garage Volvo specalist also (Rochdale undersealing) for three days whilst they carried out a full DINATROL to all the underside, all box sections, inside doors, Got them to replace the transmission fluid whilst the had it, cost £500 on a cash basis.

Jun 2016, decide to overhaul the braking system and orderd all new parts,
New front Mintex disc's £40.86
New front Mintex pads £24.12
New rear Mintex pads £22.25. brake caliper slider pin grease £5.98.
Complete New set of caliper pistons and seals from Big Red £79.70.
New set of HEL Hoses fro front and rear (supposedly gauranteed for life) £79.80
New set of brake pad retaining pins and clips. £14.28

Jul 2016, 47000 miles, carried out all the above work on the brakes, brake fluid replaced with DOT 4.

Jul 2016 whilst doing the above brake work and the car up on stands I
replaced the rear shock absorbers with New Bilstein ones 47000 miles.

Aug 2016 bought from ther USA and fitted a New brake master cylinder complete with new reservoir.
Aug 2016 fitted a New Febi pressure cap to header tank.
Aug 22nd passed MOT AT 47173 MILES.

Oct 2016 puchased another set of Volvo floor trays in blue,

Dec 2016 puchased and fitted a snow cap to scuttle intake (have you noticed we have not had much snow since) so the do work ha ha!

Jan 2017, decided to do an electric fan conversion, purchased and fitted all new. fitted red light on dash to show when fan is on.

Jan 2017 purchased a new battery from Halfords.

Mar 2017 purchased a boot lid spoiler off a club member, then had minor repairs done to it and repainted to match the car total cost around £150

April 2017, 47550 miles, fitted New Volvo air filter, oil &filter replaced,

Apr 2017, fitted new headlight wiper blades.

Apr 2017, purchased and fitted New stronger gas struts for the boot lid with now having the spoiler.

Jul 2017 removed intercooler rad and flushed out
Jul 2017 cleaned the MAF sensor
Jul 2017 New remote fob from Rybrooks £80.95 now programmed in.

Aug 2017 added liqui moly to fuel system to cleean injectors prir to MOT and started to use Shell V Power petrol.

Aug 23, 2017, 47692 mies passed Mot no advisories.

Sept 2017, purchased from REWIRE SECURITY a New GPS Tracker, wired in and hidden within the car, this will be left in for the new owner who will be given the tracker details for them to register with REWIRE, it works perfectly and tracking is done in real time on a live map.

Sept 2017 puchased a very good full set of leather seats, stripped them down to bare leather then re-coloured them in two tone black and gray. total cost around £375.

Oct 2017, With the help and advice from Dave Houston (Laid Scooby) I installed a relay which is wired in to the ignition system, there is a secret switch you have to use to enable the car to start, its a very good extra safety/security system, and can not thank Dave enough for this.

Oct 2017, bought and installed a reversing camera kit, that is an additional rear view mirror, it enables rear view when reversing, it also has built in sat nav, it also has a built ib forward dash cam, I have the instruction booklet that came with it, but I cannot understand it and have never used it, just being honest.

Oct 2017 camshaft cover sprung a leak, new gasket fitted.

Feb 2018, decided to re-colour the door cards to match the new leather seats.

Mar 2018 transmission shifter bulb gone, plus the blind strip to it broke, new parts from FRF VOLVO,

Mar 2018 due to lack of use (due to family illnes) the batter keeps going flat, so fitted a battery desulfator and a solor panel to keep it topped up, the solor panel will be removed on sale.

Apr 2018 purchesd and fitted a New metal coolant pipe from Charlton Volvo.

Apr 2018 battery flat again, thought to be alternator problem so a recon alternator was bought from Charge Electric and fitted £98.75. also fitted new earth strap to same.

May 2018, the previously mentioned GOODYEAR TYRES from HALFORDS were found to be cracking between the treads, Back to Halfords to complain and had a new set of BRIDGSTONE TURANZA fitted.

June 2018, Now started to use SWINTON AUTO SERVCES to carry out all servicing and any possibe repairs for me (getting too old & infirmed to do jobs myself)
Jun 2018, 47976 miles, to Swinton Autos oil & filter change, and fitteed a new fuel filter,

Aug 2018 Swinton Autos, New Mintex rear brake discs fitted, new rear pads, new handbrake shoes & fitting kit, throttle body removed and cleaned, plugs removed and cleaned, fitted a new fire exingquisher in boot (will be left for new owner)

Aug 21, 48078 miles, passed MOT no advisories.

Oct 2018 purchased a set of blue silicone coolant hoses £164 yet to fit.

Nov 2018 started to collect all the various parts etc ready to do the LPG conversion Estimate total spend around £500- £600, some parts off ebay, some from Tinleytech, apart from the tank and wiring all parts are New

Dec 2018 Swinto Auto, fitted the new coolant hoses for me. and replaced the heater control valve with a NEW one I'd purchased from a club member.

Jan 2019, Purchased from Rock Auto New fuel pressure regulator, will fit when doing the LPG.

Mar purchased a New Bosch Lambda Sensor £50 to be fitted later with LPG.

Mar 2019 purchased fro a club member a full set of Draco wheels, striiped them down to bare alloy, ready for re-painting.

Mar 2019 purchased on ebay a New bridgstone tyre for the spare so as to match the other new ones.

May 2019 installed the LPG tank

May 2019 took the Draco whells to Prestige Alloys to have some kerb marks repaired.
May 2019 all wheels now repainted and fitted, the new Bridgestone tyres removed from old wheels and fitted and balanced onto thr Dracos.

Aug 2019, 48503 miles, to Swinton Autos for oil & filter change, fit the New Lambda sensor, adjust handbrake, then take for MOT which it passed without advisories.

Sept 2019 started to install the LPG system bit by bit over the next few months as and when time allows.

Dec 2019 fitted New hoses to the charcoal canister

Mar 2020 purchased a New Volvo cambelt from Caffyns

Jun 2020, 48603 miles, Swinton Autos for oil & filterr change,transmission fluid change, install new 90 degree thermostat, fix slight leak on top hose, replace timing belt with genuine Volvo one,

Jun 2020 bought from PFS new front indicators and fitted.

Jul 2020 bought off club member a wood trim kit, part fitted, rest still to be fitted.

Jul 2020 fitted new bulbs to most switches,

Aug 2020, brake lights not working, went to Swinton Autos, fitted new brake light switch, then took for MOT WHICH IT PASSED.

Aug 2020 removed the fuel injectorsd too them to have the ASNU sevice £96

Sept 2020 finally completed the LPG installation, took car to CRD in Bolton for them to inspect the installation, carry out safety inspection and set it up on their software, they were quite pleased with my installation and provide the certificate and put the car on the UKLPG register, DVLA then notified and log changed to duel fuel.

Oct 2020 bought some new drop links and bushes for spares.

Jan 2021 had a New stainless steel exhaust from front pipe back with twin tailpipes at Longlife Exhaust in Bredbury/Stockport cost £479, gauranteed for life whilst I own the car (unfortunately not transferrable) NO CAT! not required as noe on LPG.
Very lttle done this year due to Covid,and not getting out, car checked over regular and taken for short rons out to keep it in good order.

Aug 2021 bought from R&D car parts NEW side trims for the front windscreen £140 and clips for same from Monster Parts £28.26, now fitted,

Aug 2021 Swinto Autos, oil & filter change, flush out and replace brake fluid, retension timing belt, take for MOT which it passed, no advisories.

Dec 2021 found on internet NEW HEATER CONTROL VALVES, purchased one for spare and bught off club memeber and adaptor plate for spare.

The car is at 49045 miles now and will increase a little with use

So there you have it, a well cared for and maintained 940, I'm looking for £3995.

Don't count me out just yet Mark, I've got a few bits & bobs to sell if the new owner does'nt want them, by the way, the car will be coming up to Scotland (East Lothian) hopefully next week. David.
