240GLE Diesel
Hi, I've been offered a 'E' reg 240GLE auto estate with a Nissan 2.7 turbo diesel engine... Presumably this is a retro fit? Anyone got any ideas how this performs and the likely fuel consumption? Also I was wondering how it would perform if I slotted it into my 740 GL auto estate. Cheers

RE: 240GLE Diesel
Probably not quite as well as in the 240. The 740 is a bigger and heavier vehicle and will need a differential ratio change if you fit a diesel engine. Apart from that it is quite a good engine if professionally done. A lot of London taxis were fitted with this engine coupled to an automatic box and give many years of faithful service. It is a four cylinder engine and a little bit of a chugger but with an auto box that is not so bad. All the best, Peter |
