Got myself another Volvo... apparently 3 wasn't enough.

This time an opportunity to make good for a wrong doing in the past, I broke a 1988 760 turbo saloon back in 2014 as an engine donor for my 360 and the engine is still just sat on the garage floor. I have regretted breaking it ever since so now I've got a pre facelift 1986 760 turbo saloon but this time it is manual with black leather rather than auto with tan leather. So I'm hoping to get it back on the road at some point, it has been sat in a damp garage since 2008 so the bodywork has suffered unfortunately, normally when they're this bad I'd break them but I just can't do it to this one, I mean come one, when was the last time you saw a black manual 760 turbo saloon?!

I'll get some pics up of it later... got to try and get the stuck bonnet open too!

Last time I saw one was around 2001! A 760 turbo intercooled badged, but estate! Don't see hardly any 240,740 or 940's now.

Didn't the 760 turbo have weaker 9mm con rods? A b230FT/K bottom end be a good upgrade. Believe 13mm con rods?

Looking forward to your resto thread!

I might be wrong James but i think the "760 Turbo Intercooled" badge was reserved for the diesel version with the D24TIC and the "760 Turbo" was for the petrol version. Either way there are very few 2/7/9xx models around now, there's a silver 740 estate round my neck of the woods with a very similar reg which is kind of spooky (original supplying dealer ~150 miles away) and other than that the only other one i know of/regularly see is a P plate red 850 - there are a few others i see from time to time but not on a regular basis.

Yep the 760 turbo came with the B230ET so 9mm rods, no oil squirters, Garrett T3 and 182hp.

Yep this one and the one I broke are badged 760 turbo intercooler, I've still got the badge off the other 760 and contemplating putting the turbo intercooler bit on my 940 or completely debadging it but I'm yet to decide.

There's quite a few Volvos around here, I've seen several 300 series, I see a 240 saloon quite often and several other 240s, quite a few 700s and a few 900s too, 850s are quite rare though, there's even a few Amazons on the road too!

I think your 940 would look great completely debadged - sleeper look!

Just had to go out and find a chemist that was open and also a post office, while i was out i didn't see any Volvos other than mine!

More amazingly, i did see a povo-spec V plate Rover 800 in BRG, knew it was a povo-spec as it had wheel trims, not alloys but that was the only other car i saw from a similar age group to our stuff!

That's my line of thought leave people thinking what it is and why there's a massive 3" tailpipe 😂

Shame all the good cars are gone and have been replaced by bloated euro boxes with no defining features!

The oldest cars you see on the road is around 06 onwards. Seems finance PCP and lease deals are too tempting. I bet a few are regretting being so heavily in debt now.

I don't believe in debt, so saved to buy my Hybrid Toyota Auris. Yes, a euro box like a white goods but cheap to run and reliable. £40 to fill. £0 tax and other than that, that's it

Yes, go for sleeper look!

I was waiting for the fog to pass to get photos but it just got thicker and thicker and stayed about 1 degree all day so here are a couple of photos from the evening it arrived.

Sorry about the quality, my phone camera is awful, I will probably start using my iPad from now on for photos.
