D5204T? Timing Belt Interval
I've got my head in a muddle trying to figure out when I need to sort out my 2010 S40 D4's timing belt - and I am not sure which engine I've got.
It's currently done 83,000 miles - and to my knowledge it hasn't been done. I can tell that the auxilliary has been done quite recently as it looks in very good nick. Hence my problem - I have no idea which engine I've got. Looking at VolvoHowTo.com's VIN decoder and also some car part websites they tell me I've got a D5204T. Looking at Volvo's website they say it's 105,000 miles. But VolvoHowTo.com says 72,000 miles? Any way to tell which is correct? I'm either overdue, or I've got some room to do it soonish. |

Thanks very much. So I am correct in the fact that it's a D5204T?
Seems that the info on VolvoHowTo.com is a bit off then. Do you know where I can get detailed info on what I should be looking out for at what intervals with this particular engine? Edit: This is what I'm looking at: http://www.volvohowto.com/servicing-...-2005-to-2015/ Last edited by cje205; Mar 31st, 2016 at 22:55. |

Volvo used to put an engine code sticker on the timing cover.
Have they stopped doing that?

Unfortunately nothing on the timing cover from what I can see. I dis take the black plastic cover off the engine yesterday to see if anything was there. But nothing obvious.

I would go for sooner rather than what Volvo say although my disaster was in fact caused by the A/C Clutch-Belt coming off causing a chain (Or should I say Belt Reaction) and taking out the rest and eventually sending a pulley through the side of the block and of course wrecking the head.
This was a D5 Phase 3 V70 though. Have everything that can derail the Cam Belt checked that's my advice! Even good used engines are VERY EXPENSIVE!to replace. |
