Default Upgrading reversing sensors

Hi all,

Brought a new V50 in the weekend - love it! It comes with parking sensors, however I'm deaf and can't hear the beeping and it doesn't have a visual display of the distance behind the car. Is it possible to upgrade the sensors/display to make a visual display? The car don't have a sat-nav display so I assume it's not possible to add in an OEM reversing camera?

Advice would be much appreciated!

Cheers for your response!

I can do most DIY tasks myself, and I would prefer not to bump the back of my car. My current thinking is to get a rear view camera and a small monitor, and mount the monitor on the back somewhere so I can see the monitor when looking backwards while reversing. I would prefer something more OEM looking, though.

Unless you've got a better idea?

If you check out this thread: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=243930

I think you can get it as an option with the bluepower stereo, but it won't be cheap.

Yeah, I just spotted that - looks great, but I doubt that's what I want. For my last car, I brought a double DIN generic Android head unit and the only thing I used it for was Waze and nothing else. Doesn't look like Waze will work on this, so £400 for a reversing monitor is a bit much, I think. Definitely a good suggestion, thanks!

If you don't want to still use existing set up then there are loads of wired or wireless camera and monitors to choose from.
Whether they look OEM enough for you ???

on my old Vectra I fitted parking sensors that had a small display which I had on the rear parcel shelf, that'd suit you I think?

here you go;

Damn site cheaper than any camera and screen set up!

Thanks for this suggestion! I already have the reversing sensors in the bumper - would this unit work with the existing sensors or would they need to be replaced?

Cheers!

No they wouldn't work as you have factory fitted,different connections and set up.
It's not necessary to go for ones advertised as to fit Volvo, most on ebay are a much of a muchness, but a recognised brand would probably be better quality
