Electrical failure 940 2.3 1998
Hello all. Ive had a problem for months now were the engine stalls sometimes when I take my foot off the gas. However the problem's got worse because it now seems permanent. I take my foot off gas, engine stalls, the red lights come on and radio goes dead and wants the code inputted? The battery is fine and it always starts again straight away. (just a bit tricky braking and keeping engine going at the same time)
Any theories about this problem very welcome. Thank you and regards. |

I have read about ignition switches causing problems where the car will sudderly cut out. The fact that the radio looses it's permanent feed seems strange though as that is a non ignition fed supply or at least on the original radios.
I found on my car that the power supply comes from the battery and then enters the car and connects to a power connector which feed a few seperate supplies. It might be a problem here. I don't know without looking but it might be worth checking to see what fuses supply the radio permanant live in case they also supply something ignition or fuel related which could stop the engine. Hope someone has has a similar problem and can offer some advice. |

Have you cleaned the throttle body and air idle valve recently? This is a classic problem that occurs when they get gummed up, don't react fast enough when the revs drop and that causes the engine to stall. A bit of dismantling and a can of carb cleaner sorts the issue.
