Hi,
Power steering? Have you checked the fluid level if fitted? You have a nest of wasps on that side of the car and the wheel agitates them.. Also check the wheel is bolted on properly and also check front to back and top to bottom (grab the wheel with both hands and push/pull the wheel)to check for movement of the wheel as it may be the bearing on its way... Des. . .

If the noise happens when turning left then it's worth checking your right hand wheel bearings too - I've often been sure a noise is coming from the opposite end of a car to the problem when eventually found!

possible bearing
Sounds to me like a wheel bearing what i usually do is drive say 20mph then turn left round a corner or in a carpark this will put the right front wheel under pressure if you hear a noise then its the right front wheel bearing. Do the same on to the other wheel turn right putting left front wheel under pressure again if you hear a noise then its left front wheel bearing.

I'm also voting for Wheel bearing. Quite often the problem with wheel bearings as Freezy has pointed out very well, is that the problem is on the opposite side of the car, as there is more stress there when you corner.
Keep this for future reference. It's a site I've had bookmarked for quite a few years now. Covers all sorts of 'eventualities' on cars, and can be quite useful. Not exhaustive, but useful. You can select the type of occurence on the left, and then look at the possibilities. http://ca.autos.yahoo.com/maintain/hear.html

Wheel bearings it is then.
The noise is really doing me ed in, it sounds like 3000 people doing that wine glass rim/wet finger thing!!!!!. That coupled with the squealing front brakes makes for a very noisy ride at the moment(Mrs Minty tends to hide when we approach junctions!!). Any tips on changing the wheel bearings would be great. Thanks Minty
