Question Thermostat issue and location

A bit of a daft question but where is the thermostat location on a 1995 440 1.9 diesel please. A picture or diagram would be grateful.

Thinking it may be goosed as when driving the temp gauge never goes more than 1/8-1/4 way up the gauge even after a 20 mile or 30-40 minute journey. Not loosing any water that I can find.

Along with a squeaking alternator belt (replacing this weekend) hoping that I could do the thermostat at the same time. Only done 93,000 miles and gives me about 45-50 mpg.

Thanks.

Its normally got 3 bolts and is housed on the right hand side of the engine...follow the top hose from the rad, should be there. I cannot say my information is acurate for your diesel though.

I don't know exactly for your specific engine but traditionally on older cars, you follow the top radiator hose back to the engine and you'll find the thermostat housing.
Drain the coolant, undo the hose and swap out the stat.
Make sure your new one has the correct opening temperature rating.
