Default Bored, and the mind is wandering T6?

Bored back stage at a conference and my mind is wandering....... has anyone done a T6 conversion on a 960?... I'm considering a mk1 960 as my next volvo , i just love silky smooth sixes! but my redblock has reminded me of them at seamless turbo shove that I've been missing all these years..... how about combining the two? It seems Volvo have done most of the hard work for the conversion and it should come down to a bit if plumbing and wiring after swapping the fwd bits to suit the red set up ..... thoughts?

Steve, as you know the father of my 960 mk2 D24 conversion, was toying with the idea of this project at one point. I'm sure he will be able to give you the considered shopping list.......

Here's his two donors that have since been moved on

The factory built at least one twin-turbo 960 as an "experiment" so there should be room under the bonnet.

Why not do an Integrale and fit a blower as well? That way you'd have boost off the line as well as at the top end.

Integrale was only turbocharged. It was the Delta S4 Group B special that had both a turbocharger and supercharger.

Ok well for us Volvo guys just go Claymore! That is what he did with his T5 before dropping in a second engine in the back.

If I were to do it I would use the 960 engine, make a manifold for a single turbo bolt it all on and run standalone engine management. No need for any T6 parts. Just keep the boost below about 12psi, if you want to go further than a change of pistons and rods

The compression ratio would be too high. The T6 head has a much better valve train and lighter crank too.

Apologies: it was a VERY long time ago when these things roamed the world.
