Blackness area around exhaust pipes
Had XC90 from May, 2 weeks ago I noticed blackness area around exhaust pipes on bumper. Started car & greyish/blackish fumes was coming out of exhaust pipes. Booked it in garage they checked it out, couldn't find anything of concern, reason could be the engine had warmed up, they said. Garage also said to bring it in again overnight so they could start cold the next day, see what they find. They said "Volvo's are known for this", are they right???? Its the 1st time this has happened, any ideas, thanks

can be anything: injectors, engines pads, turbocharger, egr, maf, vacuum pump, tcv, vac pipes, high air pressure pipes/gaskets, airfilter, map sensor, and finally - intercooler. Many things.
we dont know whether its euro3 or euro4 engine.

If the car is maintained correctly, no, they're very wrong.

Garage checked again with engine running from cold start too running hot, still say they can't find anything wrong with exhaust fumes. Next service is April, I've done engine oil, filters etc., they done a regen in August. I'm thinking of taking it to my 'local' mechanic!!!
