I think the issue is that a Lithium battery fire is not like a conventional fire. Lithium will react with water creating heat and giving off hydrogen gas, that's a bit awkward if you're using water or a water based foam to try to put out the fire! Watching other youtube vids on fire fighting the key seems to be that much more water than normal is needed in order to cool the fire rather than smother it, and the fire can spontaneously reignite anything up to 24 hours later.

Went to the Volvo technical centre in Daventry. They laided out the battery and all the associated components for the hybrid V60. The thing that concerned me was how hot the battery gets which then requires its own cooling system to keep the battery cooled. There seems to be a lot of wizardry just to give circa 30 miles electric motoring
