Default Swapping engine and gearbox?

I have posted a question in the 200 section about putting a 2.3L engine and manual gearbox into my 2.0L auto car,Not for advice about the physical side of things as there is plenty of info from previouse postings but I couldn't find anything about the possible complications with registering it with the DVLA or problems with insurance companies as it would maybe show up as modified?

Any help very much appreciated.
Regards Brian.

as long as you change the log book and you dont modify the engine its fine, same as changing from auto to manual, as you will see i have a capri with a different engine and gearbox but my log book reflects that, even tho its stupid power now i still pay well under £200 a year on a classic policy.

Don't want to be a Job's comforter (I'm the messenger), but you'd best hurry with any modifications from standard, as there is a new piece of legislation threatened that'll mean modifed cars will not be able to pass the MoT.

Big concern, that I'll post more details on.

Brian, there are a few hoops to jump through but none of it is difficult, the DVLA will likely try your patience though.

I have told the DVLA about my swap, took a small amount of convincing them I wasn't lying, but then it was sorted. Again, any decent insurance company won't worry if you tell them *before* any trouble

Ask your insurer first as it must be declared as said before lifting a spanner.

Hi folks just posted a long boring post as to why I was thinking about doing it.In the 200 section.
I can see why people don't bother declaring such modifications.
I will probably just try to keep both but as I pointed out elsewhere the white manual 2.3L is a real mess and will take an awful lot to get it halfway descent.
The blue one although generally in much better condition will not be used much being the 2.0L auto.

Regards Brian.
