Default Should I change my XC60 D5 to a D4

We have a D5 Inscription Pro which we love but just can't get on with the seats so have been on to Volvo and the dealers and the only way to get the basic seats is to go to the Momentum and spec it up but it is not available with the D5 engine. We took a D4 out yesterday and it seem ok but it's not a D5 and as we tow a caravan we are a bit worried about this, they have suggested getting the D4 and putting Polestar are it but haven't got one to try so can't compare.

This may be a silly Q. Can't the momentum seats be retrofitted to your car? Store the originals and replace when selling. Has to be cheaper than a new car again.

We have asked this but all we are told is that it may not be possible due to the software not being compatible with the new seats. We are looking at Volvo and the dealer contributing to changing the car.

Note the word MAY....if the contribution isn't paletable the ask for a definitive answer.

I doubt they would know until they try, and that would be an expensive exercise if the answer was no, ECU software can be a funny beast, even from car to car, bike to bike.

How long have you had D5? sometimes you do get used to car seats and can take a while keep trying different positions.

With all due respect, are you confident that changing to Momentum seats is going to make that much difference for you? Are the Momentum seats that different to the Inscription seats? You must be finding the Inscription seats particularly uncomfortable and I wonder if Momentum will make that bigger difference.

Momentum seats are much better for people with shorter legs as front cushions do not dig into their lower leg. Latest inscription seats also have wires put in to improve leather wear which some (heavier) people find really noticeable and uncomfortable.

Well, polestaring the D4 will bring it up by 10hp, but more importantly for your towing, it would bump the torque from 400 to 440 Nm. On paper at least, it doesn't seem much less than the stock D5's (480 Nm..) but in real life- the 40 Nm difference combined with 35hp difference and no turbo lag thanks to VNT turbo + the powerpulse gimmick - no one can convince me you won't feel the difference..

We have had the car since November and didn't notice it until doing a lot of miles touring Scotland and now that all you notice when you get in, I think it has bruised our lower bottom/legs. The momentum seats are one piece seat cushion rather then then split in to two and you notice the difference as soon as you get in.
