Default Radio Codes

I don't appear to have a code for the stereo in our '01 S40. Does it need one and, if so, any ideas where I can get one?

Main dealers I'm afraid, you will need to get the serial number from your radio for them to find your code, some dealers charge about £20 for this service or if you have a friendly dealership they might not charge you.

serial number is last resort , if its the original radio all they need is a registration number or VIN .

which dealers are charging for this? There should not be a charge for this service in my opinion. we have never charged for this service, and as far as i am aware we wouldn't be allowed to anyway if we wanted to. Regardless though it doesn't cost us anything to get the info so we have never charged anyone.

This could be an early warning that a power feed under the radiator has corroded away , the only time a radio asks for a code is when the permanant power supply has been lost ...
