Default Next Job.

As you can see from the pic's the bonnet hinges are prety well knackered. Next job is to replace them with the new ones I have painted up. Question. Should I do that one at a time with the bonnet propped up. Or remove the bonnet completly and do it that way?

Either way, get a helper. Doing that job alone is asking for trouble.

Take the bonnet off, getting at the lower hinge bolts out is fiddly, you don't want to be holding the bonnet as someone struggles to do it.

Probably a dum question but have you tried straightening them? I did that on my 164 and it lasted quite a while. After about 5 iterations I did have to change them though. (I've had the car since 1971.)
By the way if you do replace them you will have some adjusting to do. (Ask me how I know - I have scars to prove it!)

Yes, good point.

When the hinges have been changed, the first time you close the bonnet, do it VERY slowly and carefully, with you and a helper looking at all edges as it moves down. It would be very easy for a bonnet out of adjusment to hit the scuttle or a wing and damage your lovely new paint!
