T4 Missing under load
1998 s40 T4. started giving a minor misfire under load, around 4000 rpm when gunning her the other day, nothing major. drove 26 miles tonight through a lot of water and now she's running like crap. as soon as i gun her, it's missing big time, defo only running on 3 cylinders and tick over is lumpy as hell.
is this coilpacks or just water got in about it as the floods i went through were major, one of them nearly spun me when i hit it at 50. will coilpack show up on odbii diagnostics on the laptop? thanks

Check your airbox to see if you have taken onboard any water, if you have got water in your engine it could be terminal.
If no water in airbox, replace spark plugs with genuine volvo plugs, check the coilpacks make sure there are no cracks in them and that they are clean and dry. |

Without the water!........misfires on turbo`s under load are 98% ignition faults. Try Volvo plugs first then coils of course checking terminal connectors for corrosion. |

thanks stevo / 960kg! airbox [pipercross panel filter] is saturated in water, drying it out with hairdryer the now. checked coilpacks, don't appear cracked. do the 2 coilpacks supply all four cylinders, i can only see a single ht lead coming off each pack? i shall try this for now and see if this helps before sourcing plugs, skint with christmas coming up.

Did same for a guy from Edinburgh who used to be on forum and cured his missfire couple of years ago. |

Usually plugs or leads but how old is the maf? I had the same issue and had lambda codes stored and a big miss on boost. Replaced the maf and no more missing and lambda codes have gone.
It could have been the water getting to it if the air filter got a soaking. Dan |

Usually it'll be the plugs that need swapping. This happens every now and then on my dads T4. Its fine again after swapping the sparks. He just recently had miss fire under load at around 4k revs. Just swapped the plugs today for new ones and all is fine again.
