V40 or Zafira
My wife needs to change her car due to having two little ones to transport. The polo she has at the moment is a 1.4 SE 02 Auto with 30,000 miles. Its in really good condition but too small for carrying pushchairs and other bits and pieces.
Ideally I'd like to swap it for a V40 - seen a nice 2.0 SE Auto on an X plate but with 90,000 miles. Having one Volvo already then I'd rather see them in something solid but she has a hang up about the age and mileage so would prefer a Zafira. Budget is £3-4k tops. I could probably swap the polo for the V40 outright and be no worse off but will have to pay to change to the vauxhall. Car must be an auto. I've driven the V40 and seems like a good car, 1 owner and well looked after so how do I convince her its the better deal ? Is the V40 a good buy ? I have tried suggesting that we need a V70 T5 but she didn't go for it Thanks |

Ian, Perhaps not the comment you want but if I was in your shoes I would go for the Zafira. When my two kids were at the pushchair stage, plus numerous other bags and gubbins, we had a Citroen Picasso. It was an absolute godsend to have so much space. The Zafira will give you more headroom, the kids have more space in their child seats, which can be very bulky, and instead of having to arrange baggage in the boot the Zafira will be so big that you can just chuck your pushchairs in. When you are carrying a child in one arm and trying to throw a pushchair and bag into a boot you need it to be as easy as possible. The V40 is a nice estate for two people but it is not up to carrying babies/toddlers and all that goes with them, not with ease anyway.
Once the kids are a little older then ditch the Zafira and get the V40, I did that and have an S40 now, but if they are still in pushchairs then a Zafira, or equivalent, is the answer. It is just a phase in life you have to go through. Sorry. |

Yep been there done that Renault Scenic and Focus C-Max. the raised height of them too, much easier for getting wee ones into car seats and the women like the higher driving position.
Also had a couple of 3-series tourings and they were too wee for the kids and all there stuff. Alan |

Update
Bought a Zafira 2.2 elegance which should be fine for us and the kids. I need to find an isofix moutning kit for it - didn't come as a standard fitment but as a no-cost option on the original. Anybody got any ideas ? thanks Ian PS stil got the S60 for me |
