Wanted: Radiator
Need a radiator for my 360 (originally 2.0).
Anyone got one? Or know if they are interchangeable with any other engined models? |

try this - I did
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-340-...item23281a3295
It is advertised as a 340 rad, but lacks the port for a thermal switch (I don't believe the 360 uses a thermally-activated fan). Braydon motors informed me that rad wouldn't fit our 340, and being pressed for time I returned it to the supplier and bought a s/h rad with switch fitted. So, this one should fit a 360, it's brand new and the supplier is quite helpful

Mine has a switch, but it isn't being used in favour of a manual switch, so that does look the same. Not the cheapest, but an option anyway.... |

Never owned a 360, but I thought, due to the larger engine size, it had a permanent fan fitted. 340 (1.4) fan cuts in at 87 deg, hence the switch. The port locations might differ slightly. Other option is to phone Braydon motors. They are invariably helpful.

340 radiators (at least the 1.4 version) is half the thickness of a 360 rad, and will cause overheating issues. I'm not so sure about the 1.7 version...
They are still commonly available from radiator specialists (often with Volvo branding) for under £100, if you need an "off the shelf" source. Otherwise, eBay is the way to go. As far as I'm aware, only 360s with air con (and the extra electric fan) had a temp switch. Is yours an AC (or ex-AC!) car? It's possible some nugget has fitted a 340 radiator in the past, as once they went full-width (82?) they look largely the same, but are half the thickness (AFAIK). 340s always had a fan switch, whereas it's very rare on a 360, hence it's a giveaway... cheers James

Well I bought a used one and had it sent to me, but it turned out to be wrong! (Too wide to fit between the intercooler outlets).
Here's some photos showing measurements of the correct (leaky) rad', and the wrong 340 rad' beside the leaky one that came out the car. |

Go to Braydon motors. They'll sort you right first time. Always have me.
