Default What battery?

I'm no where near my car to check what battery it has in it (assuming it has the right one anyway).

What code battery should I be looking for a '64 that has a later B20 with twin carbs and an alternator?

I've done some searching and its been suggested that it should be an 069 code battery, is this correct or should I be looking for something else?

I'd like to try and get something heavy duty if poss.

Cheers in advance.

An 069 is fine. The number relates to the size and terminal position. "Heavy duty" relates to the cranking amps rating. Higher is better and usually a few pounds more, with name brands, Bosch, Varta better buys. If you want a black battery there are some around. Motorcraft (Ford) do one. Shop around for prices at factors or a pukka battery specialist for best value. Try and get a 5 year guarantee. Most are 3 year but a battery shop might extend it to make a sale. Target price bracket £55-65. Cheaper ones available but not many in this larger size.

Thanks Derek, again your knowledge excels. I was thinking about a new higher rated battery for mine this weekend ready for when I fire up the rebuild.

I can't remember what battery codes they are, but the last time I bought a battery for my Amazon, I was recommended a Volvo 240 battery. The terminals were the other way round, but it was still cheaper to buy one of those plus a new, longer earth lead
