Remap Issues - P1 Volvos
Hi Guys.
Have had boost cut off issues for the past few months. I discovered recently that my V50 has been remapped. It’s got the D5 engine. However, fault codes; ECM-7700 Engine Control Module (electronic control unit (ECU) ), Incorrect Sum, Constant defect. CEM-CA300 Electronic Control Unit (ECU), Software Deficient Signal, Periodic Defect. After some research, these codes link towards a remap that has been done to the car and these modules don’t tend to like it. However, once in a while the car will go into limp mode & cutting boost at 2k rpm. today after a long drive, The big red triangle appears, and no turbo at all. Supposedly a remap that wasn’t quite done correctly could cause these issues? I’m wondering if people have experienced this before or have any ideas on the next best move to fix this. Help would be much appreciated. |

I think I have a simllar issue in my car, sometimes it just loses all power and for the most part refuses to be above 2k revs. sorts it self when i turn the car off and on again. Mine however is completely stock standard so could be something else?

Yeah so that could be an actual boost problem your car, I’m just assuming logically that my car is doing the same because it ‘thinks’ it’s over boosting. It’ll release the boost pressure via a valve after 2k rpm as a failsafe to prevent potential damage to the engine (after the ECU detects something not quite right with the boost pressures etc…)
If you’re able to get access to a scanner, that would pinpoint your issue. But make sure you leave the engine on after realising your car is cutting power, because obviously turning the ignition off cycles the codes. |

I had mapping issues on my T5 and took it to PSL in Portsmouth which isnt far from you. They sorted it out pretty quickly, previously had mine with other volvo specialists who couldn't solve it but these guys sorted the car out quite quickly.
The big red triangle sounds strange, didnt have that, even with a bad remap.

Hey thanks for the info, Bet you're loving the T5. Do you recon they are experts in Diesels as well? Obviously petrols and diesels have differences when they're mapped given I have the D5.
Cheers. |

Yeh they should be the same for diesels, they do loads of different cars now. They bit they are great at is diagnosing and fault finding with the volvo ECU's, these are quite a headache to deal with. You might find that getting a remap done with them might help as well and get rid of that one on yours. Will get a proper dyno run and printout to see how healthy its running. If you do go, speak to Will, he does the ECU work and mapping there and is great. Say "Dom recommended and they owe me a track day" I have sent quite a few volvo owners there now after mine had been done, and he has dealt with all of them.
