Unhappy 5w front side marker renew, simple, no.

V70 2005 front off side orange side marker is out.
Removed the screen washer filler spout and can only see the indicator bulb fixings.
How then do you renew the side marker bulbs ?
Tell me it not a headlight removal job !

I did both of mine without removing the headlights.

Long nose pliers, flexible fingers, patience and a swear box is required.

But its definitely possible...

Default Just got worse !!!!

Found the long grey finger bar behind the indicator plug. Made a slotted tool out of 3/8" square dowel. This has got to work. Got it over the end of the finger bar.
Which ever way it was turned it would not budge and began to give some plastic snapping noises. Looks like its seized in the light fitting. That's probably why the last owner never renewed it.
The bumper will now have to come off at some later time.

Default Side marker lamp removal

The lamp holders are handed and need to be turned towards the rear of the car to remove. I.e. On the driver's side it needs to be turned clockwise about a 1/4 turn to free, and passenger side is anti-clockwise. I have just done this one on my V70 and use a 15mm 6-sided socket slipped over the plastic blade. It helps to switch the lights on to assist in guiding the holder back into its home!
Hope this helps...!

Have a look at this thread. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...=247786&page=2 I posted this after getting myself into a right mess, which resulted in the bumper coming off! Post 12 is the one to read.

And as you will see, a long 22mm socket will fit just nicely over the holder.

Good luck !

I might be wrong, but I believe this thread you quote is about the indicator bulb, my problem is with the 5w orange position marker light. These are on the phase 2 V70 2005- and illuminate an orange quadrant to the rear of the indicator light lens and are permanently when the ignition is on. But knowing my luck with this car I will also have these problems with the indicator light.

Ooops - sorry. Misunderstood. I have a 2003 V70 and this light is not on mine. I do learn something new every day however.
