Default srs warning light

hi i have recently bought a 2006 v50 and the srs warning light has appeared on the dash.i took it to the local auto diagnostic garage and after relieving me of £20 said that the fault was perminant and couldnt be taken off.the car was previously struggling to start due to having a warn out starter and thats when the light came on.i have changed the starter for a new one and she starts and runs sweet its just i would like to get the warning light off.any ideas how i could do this would be of great help.

I could be completely wrong, but on a Rover 214 I had many moons ago it was a loose connection in the cabling under the driver's seat. I push the plugs back together and the light went out. It may be worth checking all the plugs/connections. Be warned, though, don't disconnect any to check as you may set something off!
