Default Key stuck in ignition

Hi all I just joined and wonder if anyone can help.

I've got a 2005 S40 T5. I had the sunroof leak problem so had stripped out the carpets etc to dry them out earlier. I disconnected the battery and waited 15mins before removing the seats. After putting them back in and reconnecting the battery the key got stuck in the ignition, no sign of power when I turn it either although strangely the interior lights are on constantly. Is it likely the cars registered an air bag deployment? Is this normal in that situation?

I had my seats out a few times for different reasons but never had this problem.

Are you sure you have not disturbed the connections near to the fuse box when removing/installing the passenger side carpet?

Hi,

Whilst the battery was disconnected I did unplug the 3 connectors that are housed in the white box on the passenger footwell, there was visible corrosion on the pins which I plan on sorting out this evening, I did reconnect them before I plugged the battery in though. I did also drop the fuse box down whilst I was doing this too.

Could the 3 plugs on the left be the problem or is it more likely the fuse box? When I plug the battery in I get a whirring from the cd player for a few seconds and then nothing, no power to anything when I turn the key to position 2 either! Is that symptoms of the immobilizer circuit?

Wish I hadn't had the windows down now! They're all stuck open including the sunroof! Really hoping it doesn't rain before I resolve this lol!

I should probably mention that this is a manual car, so the key is not locked because of any gear box release problem.

Ok, so tonight I double checked the battery voltage, that was fine, then I removed and cleaned up all of the connectors in the passenger footwell. There was some visible corrosion on some of the pins. I also dropped out the fuse box and cleaned all the pins on that too, every fuse had an amount of residue on it so I sanded and contact cleaned the lot. I put it all back together, plugged the battery in and all is back to normal! Powers back on and the key is released!

Thanks for the proper follow up, I'm glad it's sorted.
