Default Crosland Filters

Recently had a issue with a crosland filter i prurchased from a well known parts retailer , After some digging it turns out that this once highly respected UK manufacturer actually went under a few years back and the name was bought by this supplier who now produce these filters in China and sell them as their low cost line .

Maybe i was unlucky but in future i will be insisting on the likes of Mann, Mahle Hengst ect

Happens all over. A big part of the problem is they just buy the name of the dead company and then try to make copycat parts, if they bought the tech drawings and some expertise they might do a better job.

I'm surprised that anybody still sells Crosland as they have been crap for years and more expensive than the ever trustworthy German big names.

OP, what Volvo and engine have you got and which filter was it?

I'm assuming a Bosch fuel system then like many Volvos.
What was the issue you had and how much cheaper was the Crosland compared to a quality German make?

The LP fuel pump is a Siemens item for sure so I guess maybe so is the rest of the system components , The filter collapsed after about 500 miles of service .

As for price no idea, I didn't buy on price i bought Crosland as i wrongly assumed they were quality filters produced in the UK.

Never assume , It makes a ass out of u and me.........

Buy genuine BMW or Volvo, not much more expensive than cheepo filters and you know what you are fitting. Mann filters from Eurocarparts for my Volvos are £1 cheaper than genuine.

It's been many years since the UK made Crosland filters and I would advise anyone to check the packaging or the product as country of manufacturer should be clearly marked on one of them.

Times change so historical knowledge of any product or brand means little unfortunately and is a little like giving Leeds United a current value based on them being good in the 70s.

The Mann oil filter for mine is £10 cheaper than genuine and is identical.
For me, £10 extra for a blue box is criminal and Volvo should be ashamed of themselves.
