XC90 Plus v R-Design comparison
hi all
I recently traded my 2019 R-Design for a new XC90 plus, all in all a similar spec, although I am sure the handling and gear changes are not as sharp, and with no drive mode selection other than off road or normal I assume that its either in my head or does anyone else know about this difference? |

I'm sure you will notice a difference in the ride and handling as you have gone from the R-Design stiffer Sport Chassis to the more compliant Touring Chassis, and maybe a different wheel and tyre combination.

On the XC90 there is no difference in chassis set up between the trim levels (RD vs Inscription, as was). Only air vs steel suspension and different tyre wheel sizes. I think S/V90 had firmer suspension in the RD spec

If you're still on steel suspension then there should be no change - are the wheels smaller on the plus? The R-Design would have had 20 inch standard, 19s will feel slightly softer and less direct on turn in.

Hi,
Not sure what engine you had/have but when we changed from an XC90 D5 R design (MY 17) to a MY22 XC90 T8 R Design (Same 20" alloys) the handling was night and day - as in far better on the T8, which I assumed was due to battery weight lower down, and stiffer suspension to compensate for added overall weight. But in corners was far less bus like, and almost (not quite!) fun to drive... May be no use/help to this convo depending on your engine!
