Default Realistic fuel consumption V70 D5 185bhp

Sorry if this has been done to death but what is the realistic figures for fuel consumption? Round town and on a run. I’ve just bought an ex police v70 D5 and noticed that around town I’m just scraping 30mpg. Took the car for a run along some B roads (50-60mph) the computer was reading 30.01 mpg it took 12miles to get 33mpg. Do you have to reset the computer before you start your journey? As I was returning home I reset the computer while going along at 50 mpg and the computer read a steady 45mpg dropping to 41mpg driving home through a town. Any suggestions welcome
Cheers

I have a 2006 D5 and I find that if I reset the trip and hit the motorway on a steady drive I can achieve 45-50mpg.

However as soon as I do some city driving it soon comes down and never gets back up to that figure.

Realistically I will achieve 30-33 around city's and 33-40 on a steady flat run.

Im yet to give my car a full service so that may improve those figures slightly

Good luck with that, these cars are much heavier on fuel than the Euro 3. One reason they did a D3 version as the current D5 is heavy on juice. The Gen 3 cars are no better.

Good luck with what? Achieving those figures or improving them?

I've achieved it. That's why that was the max average mpg I listed. I am always trying to drive economical and have become fairly good at it over the years.

Also, isn't mine a euro 5? The whole euro thing confuses me

I assume its a typo and you have a t5 in which case it sounds ok , If it actually is a D5 then something’s very amiss ....Mine returns around 40 mpg in town with 50 plus easily obtainable on a run

Yes , However i guess if yours has been chipped then that’s another story altogether and could be producing a lot more power than standard with a correspondingly reduction in economy ....?

Well I'd have no idea if it was chipped it not. No other way to know other than a Dyno?
