The GLS is the carb engine and was later called the GL.
Being 1983 it won't have the big black bump strips but nice thin chrome ones. If it has a sunroof then chances are it's broken or will break very soon due to weak plastic clips. Rust around the wheels arches, sills, boot and the valences are the main spots to go. But it's a lightweight Volvo with a redblock, don't bother asking about it buy it ![]() Value for the 300 series us all over the place really but if it's on sorn and very good condition then I'd pay £400-£600 and if mint up to £800 but as I say that's what I would pay others will say differently. |

Hoping to see the car next Thursday, its not been started for the 15 years so im guessing that I need spark leads, cambelt kit, wheels and brakes. Anything else?

Might be worth taking a battery and jump leads incase you need to crank it for a long time then you have a slave battery.
Suspension rubbers might have gone hard or brittle due to not being used but you can just polybush it all as Dai sells the polybushes. Take a torch so you can see the underside better and a camera because without pics it never happened ![]() |

I was planning on jumping it from the 460. Should I crank it when I see it? Or shall I try and get the oil, battery cam belt etc changed? N how do I tune the carb up?

When it comes to carbs you want Mac but he's left the forum. The best way to tune them up for me personally is not to get the standard carb running properly it would be to remove it and fit twin webers for awesome induction noise
![]() I personally would try start it with some fresh fuel, new cambelt, oil and filter because rubber perishes over time and let's face it 15 years under tension doing nothing I would be surprised if the cambelt didn't snap, however 8v redblocks are non interference engines so nothing is damaged if it does snap. Once that's done I would try start it and if the engine is completely fubar then you will just have to fit a 2.3 turbo ![]() How many miles has it done? |
