Hi, I am most of the way through fitting a new cambelt kit to my 2005 D5 163 bhp Euro 3 XC70.
The belt is on but I have a query re the tensioner which is temperature sensitive. Does the temperature setting refer to ambient air temperature ( bloody cold here in Durham ) or the Engine temperature when doing the job. My engine is absolutely stone cold . In addition, I take it that the tensioner temp selected must be held in place with 6mm Hex key whilst the centre bolt is tightened? If I just set it correctly by turning the centre counter clockwise, the temp indicator arm moves correctly from left to right but if I then leave it alone and try to tighten the centre bolt I can see the temp indicator arm moving Thanks Darryl

Hello mate, long time no hear. Hope you are well. No, I left the pulley on and slid the new belt past it. Many say that it cannot be done but it can and I have ![]() No undue forcing and nothing used other than finger pressure. I think people assume that because you cannot get the old belt off with the pulley in place then a new belt cannot go on with it in place. You have to cut the old belt and then gently feed it out in its normal travel from behind the pulley.
