Climate control recirculation
I'm beginning to get a smell from the air conditioning (I think), so I got an AC service/top up at my local garage. They gave me an aerosol spray to treat the "algae" which might be causing the smell and told me to spray it "into the vents" while setting the AC to the recirculation mode. I wondered why they had not done this during my "service" until I tried it myself and could not find an intake vent. I know that I could do it from under the bonnet by removing filters etc. but there must be an easier way. So where does the air in the cabin get taken in when in recirculation mode?

Why don't you try a canister of Comma air-con cleaner as supplied by Halfords?
Cost about £11. I use one once a year when I change the cabin filter, seems quite effective |

I am not sure if that is what you are looking for, but it may help:
We had today the condenser on our C30 replaced. After the replacement and testing, the guy offered to do "odorization" for 20 quid more which he said kills fungus in the system. He brought out a box-like like device and plugged it into the car 12V socket, turned circulation on and AC on max. The device was placed on the passenger side on the mat, close to the front : He mentioned that the AC intake is somewhere above the passenger feet towards the central console. He left the device running for about 5 min with us outside of the car and all windows closed. Afterwards, he said the car should be left with windows open for 15-20 minutes to get the "odorized" air out. Martin |
