Does anyone know of an add on automatic transmission oil cooler for a 2005 xc90 d5. I can drive several hundred miles with no issue, then if I push it the transmission service required message appears. re set counters and off we go again. I have a new valve body to fit,but thought whilst at it I could possibly add another cooler. anyone knows of a kit and fitting instructions be much appreciated.

I have used cooler , thermostatic valves & remote oil filter heads from Mocal
http://www.mocal.co.uk/products.html to reduce auto trans temps , the addition of a remote oil filter allows you to fit a mean of removing junk from your fluid rather than have it swirling round the inside of the gearbox . You do not require fancy hydraulic hose fittings as the line pressure is quite low . I use double ear O clips to secure the hoses to steel pipe , jubilee clips become oval & do not really exert enough pressure to make a complete seal . Hope this helps Steve

Mine has gremlins when really hot and is at the point of changing gear but not under acceleration. I the oil never got hot the gearbox would not jump....... I'm sure mine is just sticky solenoids and I'm happy to put up with it and may well oil change it again next summer to see if yet more clean oil will unstick the solenoids. What is your aim with an oil cooler? Are you doing heavy towing maybe?

I think you need to go through the full adaption process spudd, I haven't done mine as my box adapted itself ok.
Did you find out what that code was?

Just looked it up, it's a mis-match in speed between gearbox and torque converter.
Some say it never happens when cruise control is used indicating an electrical / software problem? Others have had a software upgrade that increases pressure on the torque converter lockup? A couple of things to check out there spudd?
