Fenix 5.1 ECU read with DDT2000
Hi everyone,
After two weeks of experimenting and searching I finally connected and got live data from my 2.0 S40 with fenix 5.1. If anyone is interested I can give you instructions how to do it. BTW You will need to build/rework an adapter cable to do it, so if you are ok with soldering its not that hard to make it.... |

Ok, so here is what you will need:
1. interface that will support baud rates like: 5, 10400, 62500 2. Installed ddt2000 3. knowledge of french would be an advantage The adapter I made is from this schematic: You will need too supply +5v and gnd from ftdi to the 7400, this is not in the schematic, but is necessary. You download and install DDT2000: torrent file http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1918715 I have win 7 32bit, some people said it won't work with 64bit but I haven't tried. You will need to install fdti drivers (latest) and the new com port will show in ddt2000 configuration. You connect to the car as follows: 4 --- GND 16 --- +12 15 --- L 11 --- K You need to manually select Fenix 5.1 when you start ddt2000: Vehicles > Megane/Scenic > ECU > Fenix 5.1 Then go to screens and start the communication (play + green button) You can also record the data and look at it as graphs: Here are some pics of the whole thing: Isn't very nice but if you put it in a box with nice cables it would look better... And some images of the data you get: This is the Screens (Parameters live data) And the recorder BTW I'd like to thank A40 for the schematic. It was a difficult task to find the correct way ti initialize this specific ECU. |

Thanks again Pepisan
One question though, can you read DTC's from the FENIX 5.1 ECU and erase them with this setup? And reset the Service Light? |

I can't confirm that. There is an option to read and erase errors but I didn't get any errors (dtc) ...
It shows a message No errors found but also no definition in the database, so either there are no errors or it doesn't show them. My check engine is off so maybe there are no errors present. I think that this ecu doesn't record past errors if the state is corrected, but maybe I'm wrong. For the service light I don't know, but there are a lot of options, even reprograming... My guess is probably yes but you need to find it. Anyway I find the live data most useful. You can drive and replicate the problem and review the data after. You can record all sensors and ecu decisions like fuel trim, iac. This is more usefull than reading errors. |

Hi Everyone!!!
Based on Pepisan's experience I bought a VAG KKL usb/com OBD2 cable on Ebay with the FT232Rl chipset. Then i opened up the OBD connector and cut the pin 7 (K line) and soldered it to pin 11 on the connector, and Voilá!!! I had my diagonstic interface done!!! Then I tested it on my Volvo V40 1.6 (1999) Petrol 105Hp , engine B4164s, ECU Fenix 5.1. And like Pepisan I could read live data with Renault's DDT2000 software. I can Confirm also that it can erase codes stored in ECU Memory. But in this case there are not mentioned in numeric format, but are mentioned in french with the designation For example "Panne...sonde oxygene.." Most of the softwares capabilities are not working, whitch is understandable but, it does the essential , reading live data and erasing error codes stored in ECU 's memory. Thanks again Pepisan Last edited by zealemao; Mar 18th, 2014 at 18:00. |

Need a similar Interface
Hello Pepisan,
I'm glat to read that your hard work finally paid. I have a 1998 s40 Fenix 5.1. For now close to 3 years, I can't turn offf the check engine light. I've worked with vagcom with VolFCR and worked fine with other ECUs. I tried to modify the interface to like Zealemao suggests but without any success. I'm only requesting if you could direct me on how to get a similar interface like yours. While I'm good at IT, I know less with electronics. Is there a link online where I can find a similar interface? Many thanks for the help Cheers! Quote:
