V40 Child Car Seat
Has anyone had experience with fitting Child Car Seats in a V40? I have heard normal seats will not fit & specials have to be purchased through Volvo.
Cheers Paul. |

RE: V40 Child Car Seat
Hi Paul
I've got a Britax 'Freeway' semi-permanently in the back of my S40 & as long as you kneel on it etc when fitting, it seems as secure as in any other car its been used in. I've also used the Maxi-Cosi Priori which is normally in the wifes V70 with no problem. Did try some others (can't remember which) where the fit wasn't as good. I think I read somewhere that the rake of the back seat is slightly different in the V40 to the S40 ?, so there may be a bit of difference. The best advice I can offer is to try some and see what you think: when we were looking, Halfords, Toys R Us & Mothercare (retail park type outlets) were happy for us to try seats in the car to check the fit. RE: V40 Child Car Seat
I have a Graco car seat/baby carrier with the extra 'AutoBase' which fits my S40. The seat itself is universal fitting & the autobase is semi-universal fitting, both will fit the V40. . The AutoBase bit you leave in the car and the car seat just clips into it rather than having to fiddle with the belt every time. The Volvo is one of the few cars you can fit this base in the middle of the back seat.
Check out www.graco.co.uk and www.britax.co.uk for fitting guides. I'm sure other car seat manufacturers will have some sort of guide you can look up. As Andy says the best thing to do is try a few before you spend your cash. Duncan |
